Importing a File

Importing contacts and contributions can be completed simultaneously using the import function in Campaign Deputy.

To begin, first confirm all of the information you need to upload is saved as a CSV or Excel file.

Here are the steps to complete an import:

  1. Log in to an account with Administration access in order to access the import function.

  2. Click the People tab on the left-hand column.

  3. Click the import button on the top right-hand corner next to "Add Person".

    1. Review the Import Best Practices if you haven't already.

  4. Click the import file button.

    1. Choose a file to upload using the "Choose a file..."

    2. Name your upload.

  5. Click the upload button.

  6. Map the columns of your upload.

  7. Choose to add the uploaded information to a list or not (see more below).

  8. Click the start import button to begin your upload.

  9. You will receive an email once the import has been completed with information detailing which items were successful or not.

  10. Review the information has been correctly uploaded to Campaign Deputy.

Imports Screen

From there you will see a screen similar to the above of your past imports, total imported, dates, and status. Clicking on a past import will allow you to see what was imported, matched, or had an error for each row in your file. You can also download the file that was imported.

Choosing a File

Pick a name for your upload and choose a file from your local device. Clicking Upload will send the file to Campaign Deputy where we will show you the first few rows of the file to map the columns in the next step.

Mapping Columns

Here you will map the columns from your file to Campaign Deputy's columns. Special columns like Note, Addl. Cell Phone, Addl. Home Phone, and Addl. Work Phone allow to be used more than once during an import. Most other columns should only be used once as they will highlight in yellow if used incorrectly.

Add to List

You can pick a list to add every contact to after the import is complete.

Add all to List?

Your choices are to add everyone to the list, or, you can add only newly created records to the List. This is helpful if you are uploading a list of call sheets and only want the candidate to call new contacts.

Assign Origin Code

If a record does not have an Origin Code, or is newly created, we will apply this Origin Code to it during the process. Blank Origin Codes are considered as not having an Origin Code.
